#ArmoireAddict: Night Out

For a night out with the crew, you don’t to freeze to death in a club dress and knee high boots. A cute pair of jeans, top and fly boots will do the occasion justice.

This particular look features bebe with a side of Charlotte Russe and a bit of Aldo to top it off. The dark green, lace bodysuit and the ripped, heartbreaker jeans start the ensemble. The combo goes great together and gives a dressed up casual vibe. The shoes from Charlotte Russe are what I feel make the outfit pop. Low boots, heeled boots or cute pumps take the bodysuit and jeans to another level. Accessories, provided by Aldo include large, gold hoops and gold bangles to complete the night out look.

Dinner, date night, bar hopping or whatever Friday night activity you have going on this outfit can get you through

#ArmoireAddict: Basketball Junkie

Normally I’m a Lakers fan, (as instructed by my mother since I was born) but the shirt was hot so I had to wear it. Featuring Urban Outfitters and FashionNova we get a fun, simple, Friday, lounge around look.

A classic, red and black, Chicago Bulls tee from Urban Outfitters and gray leggings with red stripes down the side from FashionNova. This look was so comfortable and perfect for the fluncfuating weather. I added a black bomber jacket whenever I went out to endure the cold with black Nike’s and I had a complete carefree fit.

And just for the giggles….

#ArmoireAddict: Looney Baby

We all know how karma works. What goes around comes around. Same rules apply to fashion … and cartoons. How long have the Looney Tunes been around? Bugs and his lovely gang date back to pre-World World II times. They were even used as propaganda tools against the Nazis during the war. One may asks what keeps a show like that coming back. The Flinstones and the Jetsons didn’t have that type of run time. Mickey Mouse, Tom & Jerry and Scooby Doo are the only other shows that have maintained as much appeal throughout multiple generations.

Relevance is the key to success. The Looney Tunes have been able to keep our attention by keeping up with the Kardashians so to speak. We’ve seen Bugs & Crew team up with star athletes like Micheal Jordan in Space Jam, Brendan Frazier in Looney Tunes: Back in Action and more recently they appear in a self-titled show on Cartoon Network.

With all this screen time, the Looney Tunes have their fair share of merchandise and apparel.  Who didn’t want a Space Jam jersey, especially with the surge of 90’s fashion? If you didn’t I know I did and that’s why I own one. Like many other 90’s kids I’m a sucker for cartoons and cartoons on my tshirts. So I own a few things with Bug’s face on it. And one stolen sweater from my big sister.

As far as fashion is concerned, Tweety, Lola, Taz and the rest are making some rather big appearances in our wardrobes.

Sidenote: Yesterday was my twin nieces birthday. They turned 15. Being the great auntie that I am I was thinking of them while writing this post and I remembered their baby shower theme was Looney Tunes. It was so adorable. I wish I had the pictures. I loved it so much that year for Christmas I asked Santa for Looney Tunes baby accessories for my dolls (I was eight F.Y.I.). My little dolls had a Tweety baby carrier and Bugs Bunny swing. Aww the memories!

#ArmoireAddict: Burnt & Orange

What’s the first thing you think about when you hear burnt and orange? No, not Donald Trump. That pretty color that works so well for fall and winter. We’re in the middle of sweater weather and pullovers are the perfect choice for this time of year. Plus, some are great for work and then play.

Usually I pair this sweater, from Express with some light wash jeans like I have pictured above. The jeans are from FashionNova of course! But over the weekend I paired this sweater with some faux leather leggings, also from FashionNova and some white converse.

#ArmoireAddict: Bum Day

We’ve all had those bum days where you just don’t feel like putting your best foot forward. In honor of those days I’ve dedicated an #ArmoireAddict post especially to them.

Nike, Converse, Fashion Nova and … WalMart? These four pieces together create a perfect balance between “I just threw something on” and “the perfect outfit”.  Here’s a rundown of the pieces from head to toe. Moto Jacket from Fashion Nova, hoodie from Nike, of course, leggings from WalMart (Don’t sleep on WalMart. They carry necessities and in this day and age leggings are as necessary in a females wardrobe as deodorant.) and shoes from Converse by way of Journey’s.

A successful bum day is pulled off when your selected pieces are cohesive and flow together. You can’t overdo and you can’t underdo even though the point is to look like you’re not putting in any effort, if that makes sense. Bum days are all about basics. Basic colors, basic clothes, etc. The only thing I don’t have that adds that final touch to a perfect bum day is the messy top knot bun. But you better believe when my hair grows back out the messy bun will be in full effect.

So I’ll end with a question to my followers. How do you complete your bum day?

#ArmoireAddict: Butter&Gold

Are Timbs a regional thing or a racial thing? I ask the question because Timbs have become a staple in the African American and Hispanic  culture. Everyone knows that any man, woman and baby has at least one pair of Timbs in New York.  That analysis makes the answer regional. However, the same can be assumed of those in D.C.  Whatever the real answer is one can’t deny the effect that the boots have on culture. You can even widen the scope. It’s no secret African American culture paves the way thus making Timbs culturally relevant to the fashionable and trendy.

90’s culture saw the rise of Timbs as a fashion statement and the 90’s rewind of the recent 2010’s has recovered its visibility.  Timbs relevancy in our daily life has even gone so far as to project the status of the wearer.  Like who doesn’t want a family picture with hubby and the baby and everybody’s wearing Timbs? Pictures like that exude prosperity and happiness. Ok, that might be a stretch but you get the point.

#ArmoireAddict: Bottoms Up

It’s Monday and I’m sure everyone is at work starting their week off fresh and earning those coins. Even though we typically treat Monday like the abandoned stepchild of the week we should really use it at an opportunity.

Monday, as well as the rest of the week should be seen as an optimal time to show off your skills. No no no, not your work skills. Your style skills.

I know everyone remembers being in high school and spending hours picking out the outfit for the next day. It was a whole list of people you had to stunt on everyday. Well I firmly believe that as adults we should harness that same energy and put it towards our ensembles for work. First impressions are usually always based off of appearance which is the all the more reason to dress at the top of your game. Work and anyplace really is one large networking experience and no matter what people say they’re not going to fully judge you on your experience and ability. The days of the drab, loose, black slacks with the off-white button down should be a complete thing of the past.

My favorite way to dress up business attire is with pants. The cut and styles of the pants usually termed leggings in the stores gives a chic yet professional vibe to any office setting. Add a nicely cut blazer or bodysuit and your outfit is ready to walk out the door.

Keep it fun and classy and you won’t look as bored as you probably feel.

#ArmoireAddict: Nude On My Feet

About a month ago, I saw these really cute nude Converse and ever since then I’ve really wanted some nude sneakers.  So while perusing on my ALDO app I found them.  These shoes are so nice! Being nude allows for a lot of versatility almost as much as if they were plain black or white.  The shoes are extremely lightweight and comfortable.  The style of the shoes remind of Addidas without the stripes which is kind of good if you’re trying to save on some Superstars or you’re the type of person that hates trends and wants to be different yet fashionable.  Me personally, I own both but that was probably a given due to the fact that if it’s cute and I see it I’m buying it nine times out of ten.   The color is my favorite thing about them I just think it’s sooooo pretty and I can’t stop looking down at my feet.  So far I’ve paired them with an all black outfit but keep viewing #ArmoireAddict for further details.  I’m sure these kicks will make an appearance on an outfit for the day.

#ArmoireAddict

Just because we’re in a new year and 2017 brings change and growth, I’m starting a new series titled Armoire Addict.  Everything about my closet and my never ending shopaholic purchases will be out here for the world to see.  If I’m shopping my life away somebody might as well benefit from it!

For starters here are three of the top stores that continually take my money.

Ok.  Let me just say that all the hype surrounding Fashion Nova is totally and completely worth it.  I love their jeans almost as much as I love chocolate.  I swear the pants are like magical or something.  My figure always look the best in those  jeans.  I just can’t get that type of satisfaction from other places.

So I’ve loved bebe ever since I saw my sissy in her olive green, bebe track suit, back when Kim K made track suits everything and it was either bebe or Juicy.  Now that I think about it I’m pretty sure I stole it from my sister and wore it to school one day.  I mean it didn’t quite fit but it was worth it.  I’d still do it again.  Anyway, bebe is like my go to for leggings, blazers and jackets.  Every female and their grandma has like 110 pairs of black leggings but I prefer bebe leggings because their so versatile.  I know  that sounds weird cause aren’t all leggings meant to be versatile.  My meaning  though is that I wear these leggings to work, campus, events and parties basically everywhere.  Because their typically thick and stretchy they’re great for work because they give more of a work, regular black pants appearance than a lounge               appearance.  Secondly, I love the detail on bebe leggings.  I have this one pair that have a lace pattern on the sides of them and they are like my favorite, they’re just  adorable.  I dress them up and down.  One day I worse those particular leggings with a navy windbreaker and Timbs and it was quite a jiggy ensemble if I do say so myself.

My love for Express has truly grown.  Honestly, I think the love grew when my pockets did but that’s a whole other story.  Express I feel is really good for tops. Basic bodysuits and cute button downs for work even sweaters.  Shopping at Express makes me feel like I’m adulting and I get really proud of myself and decide to buy some more so I can really be grown.  That’s probably not the best philosophy and the complete opposite of what an adult financial strategy should be but hey I’m trying and I have an addiction.
